Butter Bridge

Butter Bridge, Glen Kinglas, Argyll

The bridge takes its name from the historic tradition of bringing cattle high up into the glen in the summer months for pasture. The cattle were milked here, producing butter and cheese in this remote spot. The bridge was build as part of the military road network in the wake of the 1715 and 1745 Jacobite Risings.
